I forgot the title of this anime?
It was pretty violent with a lot of blood (and no, it's not elfen lied). umm it was kinda trippy. i can't really pinpoint what time setting it took place in. i felt like it transcended a really long period of time. it started out in historical japan with kimonos and stuff and then ended somewhere in the present time. i think it started with a man in the forest who came across this beautiful woman with long black hair and she was immortal. if memory serves correct, i think she was a vampire. she ended up turning the guy into a vampire too but she would erase his memories and make him go on a quest to find her and this happened over and over again and i remember one scene where his head is cut off but still alive and she's cradling it in her arms with no clothes on (but there was no nudity).

Synopsis
The original novel is about a 12th-century man named Minamoto no Yoshitsune (Kurou). Kurou flees into the mountains after losing to his brother Minamoto no Yoritomo, the first Shogun to rule all of Japan. History records that he committed suicide, but instead, Kurou meets a strange, beautiful woman named Kuromitsu in her mountain hermitage. Eventually, Kurou falls in love with Kuromitsu, but then realizes she conceals a dark secret. He learns that he is unable to die and continues to live for a thousand years as Japan evolves into a future society.
