is it illegal to have a folding knife on you at a college (CALIFORNIA)?
i go to a california community college and i never really realized that i always have a folding knife on me.
i dont go around cutting people or anything haha. i'm just what you might call outdoorsy/utilitarian type person and this knife has always served me when i needed it as a tool. i have it in a black nylon sheath on my belt. so its not like its visible.
my question is, is it legal for me to do this? i don't want to get in trouble or anything. is it fine for me to carry it on my belt like this in a sheath or should i just get into the habit of taking it off?
It's legal under CA state law, but it is possible (but unlikely) that knife carry may be restricted by your county or city. Furthermore, the college itself may have a policy on knives, and you will have to check into that. If your knife is legal under law, but not allowed under college policy, you are not committing a crime per se, but you can get sanctioned or expelled for it if you violate it.
