"Out of all the Orcs adapted for Peter Jackson's trilogy, Ugluk has the largest amount of screen time (and for that matter, the largest role) and is the most changed from J.R.R. Tolkien's interpretation. Whilst in the original story, Ugluk is no more powerful than the average Uruk-Hai and wasn't present at the Battle of Helm's Deep in the film he's commanding the forces and is portrayed as a ruthless and cunning fighter. This was demonstrated in one scene where he manages to defeat the combined forces of Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas. He's also incredibly durable to the point of almost super-human (or, more accurately, super-Orc) invincibility. For example during the final battle he gets several arrows embedded into his torso by Legolas, gets stabbed in between the shoulder blades with a knife by Aragorn and survives the explosion of the wall surrounding Helm's Deep at point-blank range."
