I have just bought a rambo knife (survival knife, it is also called) with a leather sheath and I want to carry it to hiking and camping someday in Yosemite. I want to protect myself if bad things happened, such as attacked by wild animals (maybe people). Having a rambo knife with me I have a strong sense of safety. However, I am not sure if it is legal to carry such a 10" fixed blade rambo knife in yosemite. Thank you so your answers in advance.
you can carry fixed blade knives in parks like yosemite, just dont conceal it. but if you are carrying it for protection...dont even bother bringing it. i knife is a great tool for many things, but protection from bears and wolves it is not. You may think you can take on a wild animal with just a knife, but don't count on it. If you are worried about animals, take bear spray...its completely legal to carry (in fact often recommended by park rangers) and is scientifically proven to be a better defense against bears than guns (and definitely better than knives). I would imagine it would work just as effectively on other large mammals as well, but I have never really asked anyone about that.
