recently got my hands a Western W49 Bowie knife.. It has the original sheath, because it says western across the front stamped in the leather professionally. On the bottom of the blade( I don't know knife terminology) near the handle it says:
I have found no information on this knife whatsoever... I know some westerns are collectibles since coleman bought the company, but that is ALL i know. Does anyone know anything about this PARTICULAR model? ie: Type of metal, year span made, they stopped making them..why?, was it widely produced?, Is it rarer than others?, Is it worth anything?
ALMOST FORGOT! The blade/sheath is in near perfect condition (to my non-collector standards) and is only in need of a good sharpening.
