Will the gold of a gold plated pocket watch wear off?
I've found a pocket watch I just love to pieces and I've been looking for a loooong time. It's gold-plated brass from Charles-Hubert, Paris collections. Are the watches from this company quality enough not to wear off the gold? Would you recommend me buying it if i plan on using it? or should i just continue my long search and find another pocket watch that isn't plated? Thanks 
Never buy gold-plated items. They are covered in a microscopic layer of gold by a process known as electrophoresis. The total value of the gold is a few cents at most, and yes they will wear out easily.
