I'm confused... can anyone help?
The Ren Festival is coming up in Nov 1st. I know that's a long time but I need help. I'm trying to go as a Knight but I don't know if I should go as a Crusader(Templar) or a English Knight.
I have over $250 and I'm just looking to buy a tunic, chainmail haubrek, and a chainmail coif.

But I rather be a Templar Knight, but I don't know if that would be considered with the times at the festival.

250 bucks wouldn't buy an authentic era sword, unfortunately. Let alone a full costume... I love By the Sword, but they're expensive.
I actually just got back from a Renaissance Faire by where I live today. I had tons of fun, got some bracers and a quiver. There were some Templars walking around, they looked right out of Assassin's Creed. The most obvious things they had on:
Helmet
White Cape, with red cross
Sword
Some chainmail, haubrek and coif.
More armor and basic clothing underneath.
They looked damn awesome if they pulled it off right, but it might not look that good if you couldn't afford everything. (Particularly the helmet completed the look.) My guess: If you can find everything that you want for 250 bucks, go crazy. It's an awesome costume and if it's done correctly you'll get some good recognition.
But if you can't get everything for the money, either save up more or just go for a more generic knight costume.
If you end up getting the knight costume, it might be a good idea to get stuff you could recycle into a Templar.
