So my dad is teaching me to make custom knives. One of the coolest adults I know has expressed the desire to buy one of my dad's knives, but the price tag is a little to pricy. So, I was thinking about making him one. I was wondering if I should just ask him right out what he wants (type of steel, design, wood, et.) Or if I should just go with my best guess. It'd be nice if I could get his hand size and shape so I could make it to fit his hand, but I can't think of a sneaky way to do it.
I think you can observe him closely and ask him questions to give you clues on what he possibly likes.
Or you can give him a piece of clay and tell him you need a man's-hand-mold or something. Haha. :]
