Diamonds are hard. On a scale of 1 to 10, they are 10. However, they do have a good cleavage in 4 directions which makes them less durable than something like steel. Diamond would not be a good choice for a blade.
Because it is mystical anyway, you should consider making up a material for the blade. Consider what its use will be and make up some substance forged by lightning or meteor impact or some supernatural event. It should also look very very ordinary. One of the problems with mystical swords is that they always have jewels in their handles. This is a dead giveaway as to their importance.
Consider also its special powers, will it spin, come back if thrown, change form, can it be used by anyone else, will it have a spirit?
