in need of a katana 2 -.-****?
ok for those who answered my question on "in need of a battle ready katana?" i used the words "battle ready" cus i thought that what u would call the real swords used for fights. and i figured u guys would know what i meant. i don't want the sword made from a cheap material. the sword and sheath have to be made from the strongest material. for the engraving of "moon", in kanji its only 1 character so im not worried about the cost. for the wolf pack tsuba, if i have to ill get one made separately. for the cost of the sword i don't mind the cost as long as its reasonable (the cost for the materials, designs, and work) im sorry if my last explanation wasn't that great. i don't have much time on my hands to look up info. at least not resonantly. is that better?
You should probably define "reasonable" for a price.
Defining the purpose for the sword might also be helpful for people pointing you in a certain direction. For example Cold Steel makes some decent swords of good metal, but isn't going to be amazing in tameshigiri. Paul Chen (Hanwei)makes decent swords but again, we aren't talking about customized pieces with massive amounts of carbon steel. They would be good for Iado, but again wouldn't be great for tameshigiri.
Everything you are listing sounds more like wall hanger land then a need for a fully functional sword, and fully functional really depends on what function you are talking about.
Your price range is important, the purpose of using it is important, not just for chiding purposes, but for actually directing you towards what would work for your purposes.
Obviously you aren't going to be participating in massive sword fights, and you aren't an Immortal who has to cut the heads of his enemies off to absorb their power so that you can one day "There can be only One". So knowing what you want to use the sword for is extremely helpful in determining where to point you to.
If money is of no object, there are tons of places to point you towards in the world of custom swordsmiths. That being said, 20k to 100k isn't unheard of depending on who it is that makes it, and waiting for over a year or more is highly likely.
If money is an object there are plenty of manufactorers that can probably give you the sword you need and maybe even the engraving. Just need an idea of what level of function you need.
"Used for real fights"... this is where I get confused, swords aren't used for real fights anymore. And if you were aware of how to use a sword in a combat application (from years of training) you would, like us, already have an idea of who and where to go to get what you want.
