What's the perfect gift?
One of my best friends is turning 21 in two months and I'd love to get him something really special but I'm all out of gift ideas.
I gave him a fountain pen with his name engraved on it last year so I can't do the same this year. Anyone have any suggestions?
The perfect gift differs for each person. It depends totally on their interests. For instance, if they really like a book, you might get them a first edition or autographed copy of it. You really need to think about your friend and recall what they've said to you about their interests. Once you think about their interests it's pretty easy.
I like to use an interest of the person as the basis for the gift and then take an original spin on it. For example, people who know me know I love ping pong and Michigan football. A gift that related to either of those would be great. A gift related to both would be amazing. Like a custom ping pong paddle with a michigan football image on it. Another example is I knew a person who really loved a certain painting. Instead of buying her just the picture, I found a cool looking clock that had the picture on it. If you just type an interest of his in a yahoo shopping search or ebay you can find some cool stuff to help with the brainstorming.
A great gift doesn't need to be expensive. It just needs to show you care. I like to give gifts that relate to inside jokes. Also, it needs to be a surprise! They should have no idea what it is until they open it. If it's not a surprise, then you definitely won't get the reaction you're looking for.
