Is it wrong or harmful for Christians to read Twilight or watch Charm, things of that nature?
It seems a lot of people that I know have caught the twilight bug, and really enjoy the series despite it being about vampires and them being Christians. which surprises me, but perhaps I'm wrong, but I thought the bible says not to set anything wicked before our eyes, not to take enjoyment in evil and shun the very presence of evil. Is it a big deal? your respectful opinions appreciated, others that are rude not welcome.
It may not feel wrong to many people at the moment, but to those sensitive to the Word of God and to the inner promptings of the Spirit, reading books and watching shows or even playing games promoting witchcraft and magic can have negative effects..
My Pastor's daughter once had a game called Final Fantasy on her DS and ever since she started playing that game, she had nightmares every night... Hard to believe? Not so, considering that she is 9 years old and being so close to one who preaches the Word week after week, it makes one very sensitive to the Spirit...
The nightmares stopped immediately once the game was removed from the home.
Books like Harry Potter ( I admit I did enjoy them in the past), but now, I find that these books are simply trying to project an alternative to what the Bible says. It may not be intentional, but the way it draws people in is a powerful trap..
Look at "the da vinci code".. It was written based on the gnostics, hardly an ounce of truth, yet people gobbled it up and began questioning the truth... even some who knew the truth were stumbled.. For one, I believe da vinci got it all mixed up.. Jesus isnt caucasian, He's Israelli.. lol.. and they didnt have tables and chairs at the Last Supper, they all sat on the floor.. thats how John was able to lean on Jesus..
If I might suggest, I suggest guarding our eye gate and our ear gate. For thats how the heart is affected. Focus on the Word, the truth...
Twilight cannot change your life.. the Bible cant wait to..
Sometimes, books like these can be a source of your trouble.. Its common logic.. You invite the things of the devil into your home and you expect the devil to stay outside? No, he'll move right in with them...
Ask the Lord.. Consult Him in everything and if there is something in your home thats causing that headache to linger or that decline in finances, the Holy Spirit will point it out and when its gone, the contamination is gone as well...
Dont go trigger happy and chuck everything out tho.. I DID NOT SAY THAT! xD Follow the Spirit, it is He who will teach you all things..
