Recommended Licenses for Vaan in FFXII?

I have just reached the Giza Plains and have Penelo in my party. I have them both at Level 06. I wonder what Licenses I should give Vaan? I am planning on making Penelo my 'Black Mage' - Black Magic, Mystic Armour and Knives. I initially planned to make my Vaan a Red Mage-Warrior type. I have the first sets of light and heavy armour, the first sets of swords and daggers, and the first and second sets of White and Black Magic for Vaan. Should I stick with Black and White Magic only and with swords only for Vaan?
I would get him a driver's license before anything else. I found that to be very helpful.
