A War poem, let me know what you think...?
This is a poem i wrote, thought i would share it with you, let me know what you think, Thanks.
A POPPY IN THE GUTTER.
A poppy in the gutter
along with chewing gum and coke
cigarette butts void of smoke
The bass beat echoes from a nearby car
like a landmine dance
heard from a far
Faint distant streetlights
glow like a City on fire
who would want to be in the mire
Graffiti on the cenotaph
no one seems to want to laugh
Mud and rain on the football pitch
stinks like the frontline trenches
no one remembers the chosen few
who battled the sky for me and you
How many wars were there
way back then
was Arnie in them
with his fighting men
A war in Iraq is no joke
united nations not wanting to stoke
but it will end in chewing gum and coke
Freedom fighters avoid the flack
like crawling monkeys on your back
Computer games hide the hurt
of bodies rotting in the dirt
How long ago was the war
I really can’t remember.
based on many of ww1 poems
you must look at the world in a whole and not in the one
if you and do this you will go far in life you have no limt to what you can do
and most of all do not let people tell you what to think or say
