Help wiring a main radio kill switch into harness?
Hey guys so i just got a Pioneer 3200DVD and have succesfully installed it, but there is an issue there isnt a main power button on which i can turn it off in case i get distracted. So i am trying to wire a switch into the harness so i can just flip it and turn the radio off when i please. I am having trouble figuring out what i am doing wrong. On the switch i have the constant 12v source connected to the yellow (constant 12v) wire of the harness and i have the load portion of the switch spliced into the red power wire of the radio. I have the switch properly grounded and i can see the portion of the LED light up when i flip the switch, however it doesnt turn on or off the radio. Do i need to cut the red wire and have it only recieve power via the switch? Also, does this switch setup require any fuses or resistors? Any links or advice is appreciated, thanks.
Your "kill" switch should be wired into the red "switched" lead. The "yellow" constant lead should be always connected to retain memory functions. The switch does not need to be fused.
