Do I have enough necessities to run away from home?
I've already confirmed it in previous questions, I am running away from home. I have a perfect time, my parents work monday-friday every week from about 7:00AM - 4:00PM. I could easily skip school and leave. How long do you guys think I would last with all this stuff.
15 Granola Bars
10 Cans of Food
6 Cans of Coca Cola
3 Water Bottles
2 Folding Knives
12 Inch Baton
Throwing Knife
Lighter
Zippo Lighter
250 Matches
$450
Plus my friend can let me stay at his house when I run out of money and supplies. The weapons are for self-defense and the lighter, zippo lighter, and matches are incase it gets hot or I need to cook something. I know a great spot to sleep and its below the road in an area my parents never travel. How long do you guys think I could last?
I'm being serious. This isn't a joke
As a former boy scout who's slept on the ground in all climates, I can tell you forgot quite a few things. You need (among other things) waterproof shelter, sleeping items (need both covering and padding) multiple season's of clothing, insect repellant, first aid items, etc.
If you're serious, now would be a good time to tell you something important before you waste your time: You ever seen a Search and Rescue dog work? I have. Your parents just need one little hair, your old sheets, an old toy, clothing you once wore and the dog will take a few sniffs then go right to you. They can track MILES, and all the tricks you see in movies to fool dogs do not work. Crossing water? Nope. Pepper? Does nothing. Covering your scent? Not even if you sealed yourself in a full-body rubber suit. They will find you. So, if you want to stay away for a few days and give them a good scare, fine. But don't think for a second you can just hide out in the woods indefinitely. And trust me, the police will interview your friend and his family. They had better be very skilled liars, because knowingly harboring a runaway is a crime in most areas.
