I am wondering what makes are good hand folded katanas, for combat and for tameshigiri.?
I recently bought a Paul chen practical xl plus katana. I have read some of the reviews for katana makers in the same price range as my own, (ig) mussashi and mashashiro. from the reviews i read, im led to believe that mussashi and mashashiro are not verry god blades. I sved up for a long time to get the one i have and it only cost about 300 bones. I hope that i didnt buy a piece of garbage and if i did i would like to know what are some good hand folded hand forged katanas, and katana makers. thank you for of your help
Folded blades were much better in the old katana used by the samurai. Today that is not always true. Some katana that are not folded are just as good. I had a paul chen katana. i got rid of it. It was so heavy that it was not good for what I do. As for good blades, check out those offered by Bugei trading. If those are to expensive then try Chenessinc.com.
