I just bought a Scheaffer broad nib Viewpoint calligraphy pen. It came with blue and black Sheaffer Skrip ink. I put the black cartridge in and attempted to get the ink flowing with little success. I finally washed the nib, thinking some particle was in the way or something, and started writing. The ink now flows, but it's gray. I've been writing quite a bit, thinking maybe it was just a temporary thing, but after using quite a lot of ink, it's still gray.
What should I do to get the ink to come out properly? I'm assuming it's a flow issue.
And now it's back to not working at all....
The grey is watered-down black ink, you have to let the pen dry out after washing it.
Try washing it out again and letting it dry, then insert the cartridge following the instructions, sometimes it will need encouragement to flow, squeeze the cartridge until you get a droplet of ink on the nib, and write with it, if the flow is still not working try shaking the pen vertically (make sure you do not hit the nib on anything as this will damage it permanently).
