My friend works at a university as a student employee. She missed a week of work (20 hours, university policy) due to illness.
They use hand written time sheets. She made 2 copies of her time sheet - she put the "real" hours on one and had her supervisor sign it. Then she threw it away. On the 2nd one, she wrote down that she worked the full 20 hours, forged her bosses signature and turned it into payroll. Every 2 weeks, she receives a copy from payroll of the hours she worked. It will read 40 hours (for 2 weeks). She is the only one that checks the mail, so she is shredding it when she gets it. Her boss wouldnt ever suspect anything because he signed the "real" sheet to begin with, even though she turned in the fake one. She isists there is absolutely no way she could get caught. No cameras in her office, no computer generated time clocks.. she simply walks the time sheet to payroll, and that is it.
How can I get through to her as to what a bad idea this is??
Its a felony charge if she gets caught. Its not worth the few bucks she is getting from it. I wouldn't tell her to come clean and admit she did it, but try to convince her to never do it again. Once you get a felony charge on your record, no one really wnts to hire you for any good jobs...
