The makers of this guitar were quite elderly at the time (1936) and made Pianos usually. My parents discribed them as 2 old men who measured my mothers hand before making the neck so she could reach the chords. The guitar was made left handed. I would like to know how rare it is...I have been advised that it is quite rare and could be valuable. It is small, but has a great tone. It has traveled the world with me and was rescued from a house fire 10 years ago. There has been some damage to the finish and I would like to find a reliable guitar maker to do the repairs.
Rarity does not always imply value, although if they were handcrafting and using good woods (which most times, they did back then), it may have some decent value. Most guitars were smaller back then (the Dreadnaught 'classic' acoustic size did not even start being made until around that time). Find yourself a good luthier in the area and have them give it a good evaluation. You can usually tell by their expressions when they play it whether you have a treasure worth putting some money into.
Hope you follow through with getting it repaired though, Always good to have an old instrument (which sounds like it has aged well) brought up to a higher level
