Handmade Different Pipes

Handmade Different Pipes
What kind of finish/sealant do you use on a handmade wooden tobacco pipe?

I have recently made a tobacco pipe by hand. I dyed it blue with food coloring (which I had heard about while trying to find natural ways to stain wood) and it looks really cool. The only problem is that the blue rubs off on everything. I don't know what kind of sealant would be good to use seems as how this thing is going to be burned and you're going to put it in your mouth. I've hear stuff about different oils, like vegetable and mineral oil, but I don't know if that would work over the food coloring.

Please help!

many coats over a period of weeks of liquid paraffin leaving each one to dry before re-coating.
It is obvious that food colouring is quite unsuitable as a wood dye for utility objects.
In an art shop you will find a range of blues, coat the pipe and finish with a clear varnish.
