My Windows Media Player 11 is Bugged?

Hello,

I was installing automatic updates onto my 1 month old HP laptop trying to get windows to utilise all 4gb of ram it has, and whilst i was doing so im assuming it somehow corrupted WMP.

Without showing you a picture, i'll try and describe the problem the best i can;

All the areas that would usually contain text data, are replaced with "----". I can play music using it though there are no menus.

With Microsoft being the level headed people they are only open during business hours, and their best solution was to further waste my time by calling them on a lunch break.

So im wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem or a similar one and came up with a fix. As my software is all genuine i'd prefer not to use 3rd party programmes, as im trying to be kosher with this laptop.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Pete

Yes, because windows media player is the worse player there is and you better leave it alone. I am answering a lot of questions here at Yahoo Answers and when I would be given a dollar for every wmp problem. I would not answer questions anymore, but I would buy Yahoo Answers. hahaha.
For playing music there is WinAmp. By far the best media player there is. It has everything a good player needs and even more than that.
http://www.winamp.com/ For playing videos, movies, dvd's etc. you should install
Gomplayer. It is free and plays all file types.
You do not have to download all kind of different codecs, like you have to do when using Windows Media Player
Go to preferences -- Others --- select
All File Types Codec
