I went on www.armedforces.us today and I went searching for a good combat knife. I was overwhelmed at the choices I had to choose from. I didnt know whether to purchase Ka-Bar® Desert Knife or the Ka-Bar® Iraqi Freedom Knife. I eventually purchased both.
So are you asking why your local BX doesn't stock the variety that you found on line? Think about it.
If your BX stocked the same variety of every item that can be found on line, the BX would have to expand to about 100 times its current square footage. Add to the cost of the expansion the following: electricity, maintenance, extra staff.
All of those things would have to be amortized into the price of the item you want to buy, forcing that price higher than the on line catalog price.
No store can stock and display as much as a warehouse can stock and sell via on line ordering, nor could they be price-competitive if they tried.
