Hi, I know it's wrong and the consequences could be great, but I always shoplift little things when I go to stores. Nothing ever more than $10, I put things up my sleeve or pocket like chap stick, a cool key chain, white-out, etc. I don't know why, but I always get paranoid when I have to buy something inexpensive. I would prefer to go out and buy a $100 coat that will last for a while rather than waste my time and spare money to pay $2 for a chap stick. I feel like I'm wasting my money otherwise. How can I stop this?
Think about the consequences, maybe it will help you to make the decision yourself to stop. If you can't stop on your own, I would suggest talking to a counselor.
1) Shoplifting runs the risk of you getting caught, and the accompanying fees are far more than what you save shoplifting those little items.
2) What if you owned the store? Put yourself in the manager's place. Would you agree with people stealing from you, if only little things?
3) Shoplifting doesn't just affect you and the people who run the store, it effects all the rest of the shoppers aswell. Shoplifting forces businesses to increase prices to makeup for lost income. Even Wal-Mart admits that items cost more to makeup for shoplifting, which happens more often than you think.
