Hi! I'm planning to make a Yukata, which is an unlined Japanese kimono and I was wondering what fabric would be the best to use. I was thinking something from the cotton family, but average cotton tends to get those, idk "fuzzies"? on it after you wash it a few times and eyptian cotton is WAY too expensive.
Can you think of any reasonably priced cotton that doesn't get those "fuzzies" or another type of cheap, breathable material that I could find at a Walmart, Sew Unique, or Quilt Patch? I appreciate your help! =D
Silk, or any other material besides cotton, is absolutely not acceptable for a yukata. Yukata are always made from cotton. If you're willing to spend the money, it would be best for you to buy a yukata bolt. You can get them from places like Ichiroya and Yamatoku. You might be able to find them on Rakuten, and sometimes you get lucky and find kimono and yukata fabric on places like eBay. If you don't want to do that, or a single yukata bolt isn't going to give you enough fabric for what you need, I would try some of the higher-quality fabric available to you. Kona Bay makes some nice Asian-print fabrics that don't seem to fuzz, at least in my experience.
