Why do they always put dead people with their arms crossed?
We're learning about King tut in social studies and he has his arms crossed across his chest. And i've noticed with dead people in their coffin who ever positions them has their arms crossed? Why is this?
The first answer is NOT correct. The reflex that he is referring to happens in brain dead patients, not dead people!! Big difference!! People who are brain dead are still alive and breathing, therefore they have reflexes!! Dead people do not have reflexes, you can poke them anywhere you want and they still won't move. Dead is dead, no movement. People do not sit up, they do not moan, kick or any other notion you may hear.
The reason the arms are crossed is simply because it appears more natural. If the arms were straight down at the sides, they would look unnatural and uncomfortable, therefore we pose the arms in that position to make them appear more comfortable. No poking, no reflexes, just placement of the arms by the embalmer.
