In San Diego,Ca is a folding knife clipped onto your pocket considered openly displayed?
There are many folding knives with pocket clips on them,is it legal to carry them this way? Is it considered openly displayed since you can see that it is a knife or does it have to be in a sheath?
If the knife is fully visible, it is not concealed. The rule on sheaths exists because a knife in a sheath is not fully visible, but the Legislature says that is OK if the sheath is fully visible. BTW, most folding knives which are not switchblades are not dirks or daggers--only knives which lock in the open position while open and locked are switchblades. It is only dirks and daggers which are illegal to carry concealed under State law. (Pen C 12020.)
