Knife laws and the military?

I know that it is legal for military to purchase and posses an array of normally illegal blades. Does anyone know if this only applies overseas or in combat? Or can military personnel always possess these weapons? I am talking about gravity, inertia, switchblade, and long blade knives. I looked up the laws and I only could find normal civilian laws. But every time there is a normally illegal knife for sale online or in a magazine it specifically says "For Law enforcement/Armed Forces Only" So this would lead me to believe that there is a set of rules for military/law enforcement right? Well I was trying to look them up and just couldnt find anything. Does anyone know the deal on this issue? Thanks in advance.

different rules apply on a military reservation(Fort Sill Oklahoma for example)..............but in town, don't carry the switchblade.........
