Today, i was handed an old knife/dagger and was wondering if someone might know where i could find more information about it.
on the blade is has a picture of a trumpet followed by the words
GEBR. WEYERSBERG
SOLINGEN-GERMANY
UNOXYDYABLE
the scabbard is simple - leather, metal tip, has a strip that goes up and snaps around the crown - where the eagle sits.
it has a boy's name (Arsenio) carved into it
I assume I'm somehow descended from Arsenio.
I tried a general internet search
mostly i found that the company was built in 1787
the rest was in german
and i already knew it was a german blade
i can find some larger blades and army blades but that's not what this is
Most of the english websites only offered prices for different kinds of blades.
I hate to be like this but it both cracks me up and irritates me when people ask questions on answers that a very simple general internet search would provide a TON of information on. Do a search on Solingen Germany and you get LOTS, add Weyersberg and it gets even more specific.
