How do I perform a Hard reset of a Intel(Cortez) 945G Motherboard ( Dual Core Pentium D820)?
I played withed the BIOS settings. Specifically, I enabled an advanced video setting to give me a test graphic. Now I do not have a signal to display. No POST, nada, nothing? Please help! FYI: I have disabled the integrated onboard video adapter. In its place I have a ATI AIW X800XL PCIE card. Don't know if that has any effect but just wanted everyone to know my current setup. If anyone knows where is the jumper located to clear the CMOS. Also, I have tried pulling the CMOS battery (looks like a large watch battery) for over an hour and still no display. Any recommendations are very much appreciated!
There is a way to reset your bios, on my motherboard there are three pins with a jumper spanning two of them (on my board, labeled clrtc). What you do is you turn off the computer, remove the motherboard battery, and then move the jumper from it's original position (say pins 1 and 2) to cover the other pin and the middle pin (pin 2 and 3). Leave it like that for about 10 seconds and then return the jumper to its original position. Then, replace the battery and power on the machine. If all went well, you should have a computer with factory defaults for the bios.
NOTE: That is how it's done on my computer, please refer to your motherboard manual for detailed instructions. If you don't have a motherboard manual (and I don't know why you wouldn't) check the manufacturer's site.
