Fitting mirrors on doors?
I would like to fit mirrors on two 24 inch wardrobe doors. The doors are normal internal panel doors which give acces to a fitted wardrobe / cupboard and I intend to fit the doors on the outside leaving a two inch gap on the door face around the edges.
My question is should I use plastic backed glass, acrylic or polycarbonate. I know the last two would be safer, lighter and easier to fit but not sure of the reflective qualities and scratch resistance.
I plan to fit with adhesive or double sided tape and possibly fit a bead around the edge to finish it off and also to avoid paying for the edge to be ground if I go for glass. In the case of glass I would also have six holes for mirror screws due to the extra weight.
Has anybody done this before?
I would be grateful for any help or tips.
Light weight would be best. If you use Glass I suggest you check the Door hinges & screws as they may not be able to hold the extra weight, Good luck.
