I bought a cute Maneki-Neko figurine in Border's Bookstore. For people who don't know, especially to the first person who gave a comment "cats 3": Maneki-Neko is a cat sculpture believed to bring good luck to the owner. It originated from Japan but many other Asian countries and even around the world embraced it because this Beckoning cat or Lucky cat symbolizes and gives prosperity, fortune in business, and general good luck. There are different types of Maneki-Neko cat: a raised left paw supposedly attracts money or invite customers in business while the raised right paw protects wealth and business. The cat statuette wearing a bib should be placed in pregnant women's bedrooms to ensure easy childbirth and a healthy baby. They also say that the longer the raised arms, the better since this might give the cat an advantage in snatching passing fortunes. Other Maneki-Neko types according to color includes:
White cat - means purity in heart & mind which allows positive energy & give positive things to come
Golden or yellow cat - gives financial prosperity (should be put in the west area of ones home)
Red cat - brings good health or preventing illness
Blue cat - good luck in travel
Green cat - good luck in studies, schools, or in education/academics
Pink cat - for love, relationship, and romance
Black cat - to ward off evil and stalker
According to the guide to Maneki-Neko, you can put the Lucky cat on your desk or anywhere you often see him. However, for maximum effects, you may choose to position your Maneki-Neko cat on its altar facing a doorway through which luck may arrive. Congratulation for bringing a Maneki-Neko cat in your house and good luck!
