Proper waterproof coat and rain bonnet - better option when umbrellas are banned?
At the football a couple of weeks ago, it started raining heavily and of course umbrellas are banned in most sports venues these days. The guy selling plastic ponchos with a life expectancy of about five minutes did a roaring trade, at five dollars each. But the lady sitting next to me had come prepared - she had a red nylon raincoat and she took a fold-up plastic rain bonnet out of the pocket and slipped it on. She was about 40 and quite attractive and the bonnet actually looked OK on her. She said she had picked up the coat and plastic hat for a total price of $1 at a charity shop five years ago and this was the only place she wore them, and they always kept her perfectly dry. And at least she didn't look like she belonged to the Ku Klutz Klan.
Those rainhats don't look anywhere near as bad as people make out and they have to be better than some of the alternatives. What do others think?
My wife has a few stashed away, for "Just In Case" purposes, and she looks great in one! I think many women
under 50 have to get over the "Granny" factor, afraid of what other people will think, If it works, hey, why not???
I hear women of all ages in NYC wear them
