First, thoroughly wash out the inside of the ornament. Use either a vinegar solution (that can usually be found in on the label of glass paint containers) or rubbing alcohol. Allow to dry completely. You can use either plain acrylic craft paint, or, at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc., you can find paint designed specifically for glass. The instructions may also call for prep with a glass conditioner, which will give a "tooth" for the paint to cling to. Remember, this is a shape that is extremely complex for the colors to adhere to. And when you are finished applying the paint, allow the excess to drain by putting the ornament, opening side down, into a cup for at least 24 hours....otherwise, when it dries, it will weigh about five pounds.
