What happens if you bake a mug decorated with acrylic paint?
I have painted a ceramic mug with the picture of a lion, using yellow and red porcelain paint which needs to be baked for 45 minutes. The picture needs to be outlined as it is a bit wishy-washy but I haven't got any dark colours so thought I would use black acrylic paint. Will this work, or will it spoil the whole thing?
If this is intended to be used as a mug, and not as a strictly decorative item, I would wait until you can get black porcelain paint. The acrylic will not "bake on" to ceramic (and depending on how high you need to get the oven, it might just burn off). It will probably also come off in the dishwasher, or even during handwashing.
Black acrylic is definitely not a permanent solution.
