Can you use an external hard drive on Mac and PC at the same time?
I just purchased a new iMac i7 quad core and I was trying to transfer from my external hard drive to the Mac. Turned out I needed to format it with the help of a video on YouTube.
I moved the stuff back to the PC before doing it, and now I can read and write to the external from the Mac, but when I hook it back up to my PC it doesn't even recognize it at all.
I'm looking for a way to pass data back and forth between my PC and Mac. I've heard that Mac's need the drive to be FAT32, which I'm assuming it is now since formatting, but why wouldn't a FAT32 be recognized on my PC?
It is a Lacie external with it's own power source (from a few years back at least, it's like stainless steel and was designed by Porsche from what I remember)
I need to be able to pass stuff back and forth, how do I do that. The iMac has an SD slot, but the highest capacity I have is 2GB and the stuff I'm bouncing back and forth is much bigger than that. Thanks!
Windows reads FAT32 so I can't see why it wouldn't pick it up. I did a little search and the first hit is what you need. Did you use google first?
