U.S Marine corps vs U.S Army?
NO! this isn't who is better. im trying to figure out which branch to go in(us military). The army has better equipment like the m4(the marines have the older version the m16). The army has better uniform/camo. pluss the army has more vehicles(more helicopters and humvee's). The army has more SOF aka green beets and rangers.
Now marines are part of the navy and have more pride. they don't need the m4 cause of their marksmanship(if that's a word). They get deployed a lot more than the army since there are few. they are the tip of the spear(or sword) and get more respect. Its also rare(er) to see or meet a marine. marines in general are tougher than a soldier. pluss a better name. they have Marsoc and force recon on there side.
Am i right about those things? which one should i join. i cant choose.
Your entire posts contradicts itself.
The Marine Corps does not have "older version the M16." Marines carry a newer M16 with a flat top reciever for customizations. That is just what the Marine Corps decided was better (as opposed to adopting M4 like the Army). If anything the M16 has better range and accuracy due to barrel length.
It is untrue that the Marine Corps has better marksmanship. The Marine Corps shoot on the qualification range up to 500 meters as opposed to Army's 300 meters. However, Marine Corps shooting ranges generally allow Marines to take their time while on 500 meters. Most Soldiers/Marines cannot even see up to 500 meters realistically, but either can shoot as far as the weapon allows.
Anytime you say the words "better," it is a matter of opinion and holds no weight in a legitamite argument. Marines do not have "more pride." The Army generally has more unit pride versus the Marine Corps having Marine pride. (Pride in different places).
The Army actually gets deployed more than the Marine Corps. The Army does 12 month deployments while the Marine Corps does six month deployments. The Army controls most of Afghanistan, while the Marine Corp is generally based in southern Afghanistan (with some exceptions). (Which ever is "better" is whichever way you want to see it).
Neither is the "tip of the spear." Generally the first ones engaging in war are Air Force (dropping bombs) and Naval engagment and sending missiles away. The first ones are the ground are generally Special Operations of all branches. If not, it always depends on the Commanding General's strategy. The Army is generally in charge of ground operations and is the main land fighting force of the United States. (I believe conventional Army and Marine Corps went into Iraq similataneously. Conventional Army went into Afghanistan far before Marine Corps.)
"Marines are tougher than Soldiers." - That is just an image effectively portrayed by the media and the Marine Corps recruitment nothing more; nothing less. If you are worried about looking cool or having a "better name" you are joining for the wrong reasons.
Both Army and Marine Corps have weapons, vehicles, and helicopters that they need. Air support is plentiful and there for any branch that needs it, whether it comes from Army, Marine Corps, Navy or Air Force. The military works together.
The Marine Corps is not "part" of the Navy. The Marine Corps falls under the Department of the Navy but are a seperate branch.
Special Operations, no matter which branch, is a whole other ball game. Don't even worry about them. First join, then worry about Special Operations.
