I'm looking for heraldry design software programs to make Coat of Arms designs and Clan Crest Badges. I want to use this software for personal use as well use it for the Clan that I belong to. I also want to use the software in making a custom badge for a Scottish social group that I belong to. If anybody has a nice and large image of the shield of Peter Young of Auldbar - Year of 1673, I really would like it. Thanks.

Blazons was the last: http://www.harnmaster.us/blazon.html . Blazons will run in Windows XP. It builds a shield from the blazon and has a tool that allows you to design your own coat of arms and it will output a blazon for you to use or register. The program already has the ordinaries and charges as vector graphics. You could also do a Google search for "heraldry software" and a few others will come up. Blazons also has a dictionary of common achievements from the Burke publications. The author has chosen not to update the Blazons program.
I copied and pasted storkarhu's blazon into Blazons and it was able to draw a good rendering of the shield with mantling helmet and scrolls, but I had to do the crest separately and paste it in to get a complete achievement.
Some very expensive scripts are available for business use, these are the ones bucket shops use to sell heraldry in dubious kiosks.
