Difference between stainless and carbon steel scalpel blades?
I'm referring to surgical scalpels. I couldn't find any information relating scalpels, but on swords, knives, etc. people have said carbon is better and tend to not chip and can keep an edge longer. However, stainless steel blades cost more than carbon. Why is this? Which is better?
Depends on who and what are you operating on?
Disposable blades are most commonly used to ensure a sharp blade everytime and they stopped using carbon steel ones years ago for infection control and cost reasons.
