where can i buy plain sheets of leather?
i'd like to make a scabbard for a sword and maybe some book covers but i can't find it at any local fabric store. i'd also like info on stamping the leather cheaply and sewing the peices together.
Real leather does not come in sheets or yardage. It is sold by the sq ft but will not be square - it is an animal's skin.

If you can find a Tandy store nearby, they have classes, and they can also help with your questions.
Hobby Lobby carries some leather products in the craft area and not the fabric area.
The leather has to be moistened and then the stamps are pounded into the the hide.
Some designs are carved into the hide.
