whats the difference between a knife and a throwing knife?
i want to start knife throwing but i gotta know the difference between a knife and throwing knife
Main difference for throwing knife isn't really the balance, but the steel and construction.
In other words, those knives are designed to withstand throwing, impact, dropping, potentially hitting the rock, other hard materials. So they have no moving parts, rivets, slabs, etc. In general that is, of course there are exceptions, but if you throw them long enough, everything that can break and crack will break and falls off.
Because of the same reason tougher steels are used in throwing knives and they are not hardened to the max to keep toughness higher. Because of that throwing knives aren't the best utility knives. They don't hold the edge that well compared to dedicated cutting knives.
Balance of the throwing knife is important, but I've had variety of throwing knives balanced quite differently, so as far as i can tell there is no golden rule. Here's a few reviews - http://zvis.com/knives/throwing/knthrw.shtml
2 Anonymous - Knife throwing is a sport and recreational activity and if you haven't tried may be you should, so that you don't think about killings. After all, in the circus those knife throwing guys aren't serial killers U know.
