That's called a "tanto tip" blade. It's based on the Japanese tanto dagger blade type. The chisel tip makes a strong stabbing blade but a lesser effective slashing tip.
It's easier to sharpen than a curve, in fact. Just sharpen the main part of the blade in one step and then the tip as a separate small blade. If you try to sharpen both in one stroke, you end up grinding a curve onto the tanto tip.
